Whistling Boar Makes Special-Occasion Meals for Your Home

"We were always going to be a local, farm-to-table company that worked with local ranchers and farms," says the chef's wife and Whistling Boar co-founder, Debbie Seaford-Pitula. The pair launched Whistling Boar as a catering company in Boulder in February, but the original plan didn't go quite as they expected.

Whistling Boar is the crowning culinary expression of local chef David Pitula, I was told by his wife and co-owner of Whistling Boar, Debbie Seaford-Pitula, as she handed my sister and me our Weekender Boar Box. The locally-sourced food box consisted of ingredients to make two dinners, two brunches, a charcuterie board, and dessert. Everything from the breads to the desserts are made in-house.

My fiancée (now husband) and I decided to have a small destination micro wedding in Estes Park, Colorado this past January. Our wedding only consisted of our closest family and friends, so we decided to splurge on the food for all of us. Through researching, I was extremely fortunate to find Debbie and the Whistling Boar team. When I say this I was the best wedding food I’ve ever had, I am not exaggerating. Our family still talks about the food at our wedding! I seriously cannot overstate enough how delicious everything was! And by everything I mean EVERYTHING. Not a single dish was mediocre. Everything had such a delicious flavor that I’ll still crave our wedding food to this day. Debbie was so thorough when asking us how we envisioned the food and took our ideas and came up with such an amazing menu. We even had an option for some of my family who was vegan! Alongside the food, Debbie and the Whistling Boar team even took care of all the tableware and everything needed for our dinner. They were all so incredibly kind, and we are beyond happy and grateful to have had them be a part of our special day. Debbie and Whistling Boar, we thank you so much for giving us such happy memories!

Absolutely amazing!!! We canceled our large wedding due to covid and scheduled a small reception with Whistling Boar. They made our initially sad decision absolutely amazing! They handled every detail and everything was impeccable!

Debbie was amazing to work with! Even though we never got to meet before the wedding, Debbie nailed our vision. She handled every detail making planning low stress. From location and tables to decorations and bar service, every detail was perfect! Our location at Metacarbon Organic Farm was beautiful and the farmers were wonderful! Debbie even arranged a farm tour for us!

David's menu was awesome and he was so accommodating of our requests including making us custom hot sauce and a pretzel wall. Our 7 courses were all beautifully presented, nicely timed, and absolutely delicious!

The cherry on top of the perfect event was their model of locally sourced food and zero waste.

Debbie and the entire team at Whistling Boar were incredible to work with.  Not only did we approach them semi last minute for a multi day catering job, they stepped in to do site visits at a new venue and meet the team responsible for planning our event.  From a customer service perspective, the process of contracting, building the menus and working out the logistics was flawless.

Now to the food...we had a guest describe the morning glory muffins as eating them felt like a warm hug!  That sums up how delicious, flavorful and special each menu item was.  This is not mass produced everyday catering.  David, Debbie and their entire team take great care in sourcing local ingredients, pride in how the food is displayed and care in pairing A++++ service with incredible food and ingredients.

Do not hesitate one second in reaching out to Debbie and David - they are fabulous and
amazing!!

You know you’ve found an exceptional caterer when guest after guest goes out of their way to tell you that this was the BEST wedding meal they have ever had - EVER. Not to mention that the majority of the ingredients are locally and sustainably sourced, custom crafted for every event, and plated with the most beautiful presentation. Debbie and David went above and beyond on our rainy wedding day, accommodating a major change of plans to a cozy (aka cramped) indoor space, an open kitchen, and toasts between courses that went a biiit longer than expected. They flexed through all of it with exceptional professionalism and served one of the most delicious meals I have had the pleasure of tasting. Oh, and did I mention the custom Kombucha labels they created just for us?? I simply cannot recommend them enough!! Thank you Whistling Boar for the most perfect wedding day experience

Dear Debbie,
I am writing to tell you how much we enjoyed the special meal you prepared for Bob’s birthday last Friday. We enjoyed everything! It was so much fun opening all the packages and preparing each item. Everything was meticulously packaged and labeled. Bob's favorites were the sourdough bread, chicken, twice baked potato, and cheeses. Mine were the short rib, white bean and squash soup, twice baked potatoes, and chocolate sin cake (melt in your mouth deliciousness). Each course was special in its own way. We had leftovers and kept nibbling all week-end! You are truly offering an exceptional service and I will continue to spread the word to family and friends. The attention to detail and fine ingredients were truly impressive We have long been fans of Longmont Cheese Importers, so it was great to have their items included. The whole meal was truly a labor of love.

David is amazing. I have so many dietary needs, and he is very adaptive and creative. He's game to try new things and I love that he uses glass containers and sources locally. I always feel good about where my food is coming from and it's delicious!

Very much enjoyed our dinner. 

Well packaged, excellent labels, and very well prepared. There was so much food we haven't yet got to the bread or dessert and then we have the gnocchi.
